Seeking Asheville Artist to Put Artwork on Display!
Faces of Asheville is an amazing community project that has been put into the world thru the visionary Jenny Bowen & her fearless helper Spyce. We're at beginning of year 2 (final year) for this amazing project & as always, are looking to involve as many Ashe-villians as possible.

Our next part of the project will involve a Get Your Freak On Foto Booth that will make it's debut at this year's Lexington Ave Arts & Fun Festival on Sunday Sept 7th.
There will be tons of freaky fun costumes donated by the wonderful Costume Shoppe for folks to come by and get freaked out in. Jen will snap your shot, and within minutes you'll have the best memento ever of your and your friends getting fun and freaky!

All monies raised will go to the Faces of Asheville Documentary Community Forums that will take place throughout the year. There will be 6 forums - each addressing a specific challenge for Asheville's community as it continues to grow.
The forum issues will be:
-Diversity in Asheville
-Artist Resources in Asheville
-Ecological and Green Living in Asheville
-Local economy, focusing on local business and currency in Asheville
-Alternative Health and Human Services in Asheville
-Interfaith and Spirituality in Asheville

Here is what we need from an artist!!
We're looking for talent to design and then help paint a backdrop for the photos that will be taken at Lex Fest.

We will provide all the supplies, you provide your talent & creativity!
Your art work will be all over town as the backdrop for the many photos that will be the talk of the festival!
This is a wonderful chance for a local artist to be involved in this history making project & get their name and talent out there to be seen by all of Asheville!
Artists will be compensated with proper credit and a free place to exhibit other work at the festival.
Interersted?
Email: Spyce618@gmail.com

If the project has peeked your interest and you'd like to assist in volunteering at the photo booth, or helping coordinate the Community Forums - please email Jenny Bowen at docjen@gmail.com

Hi. My name's Brent, and I am an illustrator and graphic designer. I've been at Image 420 for a couple of years, where I design shirts, and design and print posters. I also play in a band called Albatross Party. You can check out my design and art portfolio at brentbaldwin.blogspot.com, and my band at myspace.com/albatrossparty. I've lived in West Asheville for almost a year, and I love it.
Crazy Green Studios - Lori Theriault Comment by Crazy Green Studios - Lori Theriault on August 1, 2008 at 1:02am
greetings - I'm a studio potter and pottery instructor, just opening a little studio in the hood and will be looking for living quarters (hopefully within dog walking distance!) in the next few months. My work is mainly high fire functional, mostly gas/reduction but wood/salt/soda whenever I can charm my way into a firing. I'll be teaching beginner wheel and handbuilding and firing student work in cone 7/electric. My constant studio mascot is the friendly but shy Lissa, whose goal seems to be to counter any clay dust by shedding as much as a 100lb dog can shed. my website is www.crazygreenstudios.com.

Jenn Hoolihan Comment by Jenn Hoolihan on July 29, 2008 at 11:18pm
Hello, I am a functional potter with a full ceramic studio in our basement. My main focus is dinnerware and a few things for the garden. I also teach clay classes at Odyssey and ABtech.

When we moved here almost 3 years ago, there was an 'Arts West Walk' studio tour thing. I think it was during Febuary or March. Do any of you remember that or know anything about it's organization?

Thanks!

I am an amateur photographer and my wife helen is previously a fired-glass jewelry-maker. We have in our immediate surroundings several artists including Chad Hagen an amazing modern hand-felt textile artist, Christopher Mello a gardenartist and modern clay sculptist, Steebo - an amazing metal fantasy artist and a few others...

I love how West Asheville has become so enlightened by the addition of these individuals.

Hello. I'm interested in finding out more about local artists. I'm opening a kid-friendly coffee shop that will host art classes for all ages and a local art gallery for all different mediums. Please email me if you're interested or you know anyone who might be interested in leading a class or displaying their artwork.
Thanks,
