The stream restoration and rain garden project at Malvern Hills Park and West Asheville Park is moving along quite nicely. The plans are complete and we are waiting on our permits and we are in the process of selecting a contractor to do the work. We hope the work will begin around the first of October and we are planning to hold several volunteer activities such as planting trees and removing invasive species as the project progresses. hi fellow westsiders -
it is Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, 11:34AM and there is a stink upon us. can anyone help me figure out what it is? - it is very sulphur-ish. some have told me on humid, hazy days it travels from the West paper mills ... others insist there is a landfill near us that has just been stirred up. regardless, i hate it, wish it would die and go away. thank you for your help. kc

I posted some pictures that I took at the sixth annual Montford Music & Arts Festival on May 16th 2009.
Hope you enjoy them.
I couldn't find a NING.COM website about the MONTFORD neighborhood.
I thought I would present these photographs on our WEST ASHEVILLE site.

Is anyone missing a very sweet brown puppy? She looks to be about 6 months old and had a collar and a very wet leash on when my neighbor found her on Beverly Road early this morning but no ID. She's currently in my yard with my two dogs at 390 Riverview Drive; I am at work; neighbor is putting up flyers but shoot me an email - fliss.vertATgmail.com if you'd like to come by this evening and see if you know her.

And i love maps and they had two cool ones, zoning and neighborhoods.
Marsha Stickford, the city's Neighborhood Coordin…

Hey West Asheville netizens, I want to urge everyone to check out the local blogging scene. You can go to
BlogAsheville for a damn near comprehensive list of area blogs.
My home blog is
Scrutiny Hooligans, where a group of us write about local, state, and national politics. Have a look at that as well!
